Zambezi Safari Holidays

Elephant on the Shores of Lake KaribaThe mighty Zambezi river passes through and along the borders of six Southern African countries: Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique before emptying into the Indian Ocean. Along it's 1,673-mile journey, you can find much of Africa's iconic wildlif including hippos, Cape buffalo, elephants, crocodiles, zebra, lion, giraffe and much much more. Because of this there are many excellent safari holiday locations, national parks, game reserves, safari areas as well as dams and natural wonders. The most well known falls are the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Chavuma Falls between Zambia and Angola. Then there huge dams: Kariba Dam between Zambia and Zimbabwe and Cahora Bassa Dam (Cabora Bassa) in Mozambique.

National Parks along the Zambezi include the Zambezi National Park near the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia that lies opposite the excellent Mana Pools Reserve in Zimbabwe and the Matusadonha National Park located on the shores of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. Apart from viewing game on safari, popular activities include Zambezi canoe safaris, fising on the river as well as in the dams and houseboat holidays on Kariba.

Zambezi Canoe Safaris in Zambia
This is a semi-participation safari that not only takes you to the Lower Zambezi National Park, but you will also go canoeing on the Zambezi River and a visit the Victoria Falls and South Luangwa, another one Zambia's premier national parks.

About Zambezi Safari

The idea of a resource for all things related to safaris came about whilst I was conducting some research for one of my other websites, The Safari Holiday Guide. I was constantly searching on the web, looking for information regarding safari holidays, African countries, cameras, binoculars, and pretty much everything else related to a safari holiday. Whenever I came across a good resource, a site that I really found useful, I would bookmark it. It was then that I thought, I found these links useful then surely those who are looking to go on a safari holiday may as well, and so The Zambezi Safari Resource was born. Obviously the better the resource, the more useful it is, so if you have or know of a fantastic website that is relevant, that is not yet featured please drop me a line to let me know about it.

Why Zambezi Safari?

One of my favorite places in the world is the Zambezi valley, anywhere along the mighty Zambezi river, especially near Mana Pools in Zimbabwe. It is a true African wilderness, truly wild. Africa and it's wildlife at it's best.

When on safari, you will probably notice that even your safari guide will have their wildlife reference books with them. So no matter how many times you have been on safari, you will always see something new. Be that a new animal, bird, insect, tree, flower or even type of grass. The good news there are books on just about everything related to the bush. Some cover animal behavior that will help you interpret why that Kudu Bull is rubbing it's horns on the branches of a tree. Other, tracking books help you identify and interpret the signs and footprints you see in the bush.
