It is with some reluctance that I am having to sell my beautiful vintage Pinarello Stelvio in order to pay for some new race wheels for the forthcoming season.
As I did not buy it from new, I do not know all the facts, but to the best of my knowledge the bike was built at around 1994 to 1996 when I believe through some research, just the frame cost £650. Whilst I have ridden it, I would describe it as being in very good condition for a bike of this age and comes with a complete top of the range 1990’s Campagnolo Record groupset and Mavic rims.
The Stelvio takes it’s name from one of the hardest and most famous climbs in Italian cycling and in it’s day was considered a lightweight frameset constructed from what I think was a proprietary Pinarello Tubeset from Columbus, around the level of Columbus SLX. The Banesto team including Pedro Delgado and Miguel Indurain used these bikes in the 1990’s.
